  • Ramsey Muniz: El Diez y Seis de Septiembre in the 21st Century

    Dear Friends:

The enclosed writings of Diez y Seis de Septiembre
from my beloved husband, Ramsey, are dedicated to the
youth. You are welcome to share his message in
Diez y Seis de Septiembre celebrations.

    By Ramsey Muniz

It is with great pride and love that I share the
following message from this mode of darkness, which
imprisons my body to this day, though my soul continues
to be in an interior realm of spiritual freedom.

Everywhere from the roots of Mexico throughout
the entire Southwest within the United States of
America, Hispanics, Latinos, Chicanos, and Mexicanos
    – whatever we decide to call ourselves – will be
celebrating one of our most profound historical days
of liberation. All the way from the mountains of
Mexico we will hear in our hearts “El Grito” which
symbolizes the struggle of a people against enslavement,
oppression, injustice, and death sentences through
    imprisonment.

    Mexicanos throughout will celebrate
this day like never before. For that reason it is
important for those who seek the enlightenment of
historical freedom to make sure that history is
recorded once again in the hearts and minds of the
masses. Does history repeat itself, or are its
repetitions only penance for those who are incapable
of listening to it? No history in the world is mute.

No matter how much they change it, destroy it, break
it, and lie about it, human history refuses to be
silent. Despite deafness and ignorance, the time that
WAS continues to tick inside the time that IS. Now
more than ever we must insist on it and act on it so
as not to repeat the past of oppression and injustice,
but to keep it from being repeated. The memories of
El Dies y Seis de Septiembre are in the air we breathe,
and from the air of liberation it breathes us.

During this incarceration of fourteen (14) years
I have many times been in solitary confinement where
I found the true spiritual enlightenment of our ancient
historical past regarding spiritual leaders and
heroes who carried liberation in their hearts.

With little light to read in a mode of darkness I
embraced our Mexicano sacred, indigenous spirituality and
was transformed by the humanistic passion I discovered about
our past. Now I perceive it in my own Mexicano soul, with
the destiny of sharing it with the entire world. From this
cold darkness I was destined and given access to a great and
profound secret. Now I know from the celebration of El Diez y Seis
de Septiembre the suffering, sacrifice, sorrow, sadness,
grief, and imprisonment of our ancient ancestors, our
warriors and our heroes, and it has become my own.

“For they had always known within themselves the
length of their days. The moon, the year, and the day
and the night, the breath of life were fulfilled and
they passed. The blood was fulfilled and came to the
place of its rest. As also it had come to its power and
its dignity. During their time they had repeated the
good prayers; they had sought the lucky days when the
good stars watched over them. Then they kept vigil, when
the good stars watched over them. Then all was good.”

    Chilam Balam of Chumayel

Celebrations of this most glorious day in the history
of our lives will be received with an embrace of
spirituality, harmony, kindness, faith, courage, dignity,
forgiveness, and love for all humanity on this earth,
as we invite on behalf of our people. It was written in
our ancient manuscripts and symbols that we would encounter
oppression and injustices in the existence and essence of
our history. Within the hearts and minds of destined brothers
and sisters, however, we were to overcome and rise once again,
benefiting not only our people but ALL of humanity.

In the past, our entire ancient spiritual history was
composed and cultivated by our youth. I share with you the
spoken words of our last Mexicano Emperor, Cuauhtemoc.
On August 13, 1521, he stated the following just before his
    death:

“Now we mandate our children also not to forget to
transmit to their children how it will be, how we will
reunite, how we will rise again, how we will reach out,
and how we will fulfill the great destiny of our race.”

From within this imprisonment of my life I dedicate
this Diez y Seis de Septiembre to our youth. Our freedom,
the Rising of the Sixth Sun, and the termination of
oppression and injustices against humanity will one day
end with the acceptance of our youth as our leaders today,
tomorrow, and in our next world. From the chains
and shackles that bear their marks on my body I ask youth
organizations in the barrios, community centers, and high
schools to prepare themselves culturally, spiritually,
with a hunger for intelligence. I have constant dreams of
    young Hispanic/Latino/Chicano/Mexicano
brothers and sisters becoming the voice politically,
    socially, economically of nuestra gente.

MEChA chapters and other organizations throughout universities
and colleges must now step forward and accept their destinies.
History is on our side and gradually the prophecies are
fulfilled by those who were chosen and destined from the
    beginning.

I share spoken words from one of Mexico’s greatest
heroes of freedom and humanity. At times I feel that his
presence within this confinement, for he was incarcerated
not only in the prisons of Mexico, but in the end of his
most glorious powerful spiritual life he died at the
Leavenworth United States Penitentiary. In his writing
he once stated, “My dream of beauty and my beloved visions
of a humanity living in peace, love and liberty will
not die with me. While there is on earth a painful heart
or an eye full of tears, my dreams and my visions will
live” (Ricardo Flores Magon; March 16, 1922).

Almost eighty years later here I am, Ramiro Ricardo
Muniz, also confined but sharing with the entire world
that his dreams and visions were fulfilled as mine, will
be with our youth — our young Hispanics,
Latinos, Chicanos, and Mexicanos will one day embrace the
same dreams and visions for the life of freedom and justice
in his world and in our future.

    Constantly the visions and
the message of our youth embracing, accepting and finally
becoming a part of our reawakening of our spiritual consciousness.
In our ancient writings it is called Mexicayotl. On September 16,
our heroes, those who took destiny into their hearts were also
recreating power of Mexicayotl. Celebrate this most profound day
of our history and know that on the 16th I will personally be in
meditation, seeking our ancient spirituality so that love for humanity
becomes a part of the lives of our youth.

    In exile,
    Ramsey – Tezcatlipoca

“We want only to show you something
we have seen and tell you something
we have heard .. that here and there
in the world and now and then in ourselves
is a new spiritual Mexicano creation.”

  • Ramsey Muniz on Felix Longoria and Destiny

    Dear Friends:

We wish to express our gratitude to all supporters who continue
to be with us during these times. Ramsey is still at Three Rivers FCI,
and for now we do not ask for continued correspondence regarding his
transfer. A lot of letters have already been sent, and we feel that
too much correspondence can have a negative affect. If the need to
send correspondence arises, we will ask your assistance again.

In the enclosed letter written to Dr. Andres Guerrero, who has been
most active in our struggle, Ramsey compares his destiny to
that of Felix Longoria, who was denied his constitutional rights
in Three Rivers, Texas. Please distribute.

We wish all mothers — creators of life — a beautiful Mother’s Day.

    Dear Queto y Susana:

I pray that upon receipt of this letter I’m still here at
Three Rivers FCI. Before I share the truth of the entire
matter, please permit for me to present some historical events
    pertaining to our raza:

    1. During World War II, a brave honorable Mexicano by the
name of Felix Longoria gave his life for his county, the
United States of America, with such valor and honor.

    2. When Felix Longoria’s body was returned to Three Rivers,
Texas for burial, the oppressive Anglos refused to have
him buried in the city’s burial plots.

    3. A Mexicano by the name of Dr. Hector P. Garcia (who also
served in World War II), organized Mexicano veterans from
that war and protested in Three Rivers, Texas pertaining to
the issue of Felix Longoria’s burial. From this protest and
organizational move the American GI Forum, a national
    organization, was founded.

    4. Felix Longoria was finally buried with honors in the Arlington
    burial plot in Washington, D.C.

    5. My mother’s name was Hilda Longoria before she married my father,
Rudy G. Muniz. My three uncles, Herbert Longoria, Joseph Longoria,
and Arturo Longoria were all decorated soldiers of World War II.
We all resided in Corpus Christi, Texas but as a child I remember
visiting “la Longoria” family here in Three Rivers, Texas.
    Yes, we were related.

    6. Sixty or more years later, on December 11, 2006, I arrived
at the Three Rivers Federal Correctional Institution. Immediately
I encountered an Anglo staff member who related to me without
stating a word that as long as she is here, she would do everything
in her power to transfer me out. At the end of the conversation she
had me locked down in solitary confinement for five days. Later,
within the last two months, the staff member with the assistance of
the institution developed a false allegation that I was chronically
ill, and therefore could not stay here at the Three Rivers Federal
    Correctional Institution.

    7. I am not chronically ill. I am not sick, nor do I take any type
of medication. As you recall, I was trying to stay at the U.S. Medical
Center in Springfield, Missouri, but after a complete medical
examination by three medical doctors, they determined that I was in “perfect
health.” I was then transferred to the Florence United States
Penitentiary where you and I recreated history by meeting for the
    first time.

    8. I have formally requested that I be examined by an institutional
doctor and by a doctor from the outside community. The truth will be
revealed that I am not sick at all. In fact, they are the ones who
are sick in their minds and hearts.

Legally speaking, these racial and discriminatory practices and
violations are violating my civil and constitutional rights under
the U.S. Constitution. The Fifth Amendment (Due Process of Law),
the Eighth Amendment (Cruel and Unusual Punishment) and the
Fourteenth Amendment (Equal Protection of the Law). Are we not in
the 21st century or do we continue to permit oppression,
discrimination, and violation of one’s human rights?

Is this my destiny? To return to the same place where a Mexicano
by the last name of Longoria was denied his constitutional rights even
though he gave his life for his country and for me tonight as I share
these most powerful and spiritual words that come not from my heart
    but from his heart.

Stay strong my spiritual brother. I foresee our future as most
powerful. Our time has come and some of us must continue to suffer.
I accept the truth that I was chosen. Give my respect, honor, and
love to the family. Take the time and write to the Congressional
    Hispanic Caucus. The address is:

    Joe Baca, Chair
    Congressional Hispanic Caucus
    1610 Longworth House Office Building
    Washington, D.C. 20515
[Reminder: In the introductory note above, Irma Muniz requests that correspondence not be sent at this time.–gm]

    Sinceramente,

    Tez

  • Feds Drop Threat to Transfer Ramsey Muniz

    Dear Friends:

On May 18, 2007, the Warden and Associate Warden of the Three Rivers Federal Correctional Institution, informed Ramiro Muniz that he would not be moved from Three Rivers FCI for a while, unless a medical situation necessitated the transfer. This news has brought us great
joy and a cautious sense of optimism.

We owe this new development to your assistance, and we extend our gratitude for the invaluable support that you have provided.

Thank you for being with us throughout this difficult time. We ask for your prayers as we move forward with plans to prove Ramsey’s innocence.

We will keep you abreast of this volatile situation as we continue to seek freedom for Ramiro “Ramsey” R. Muniz.

    Sincerely,
    Irma Muniz

  • Psy-Ops USA: Ramsey Muniz Removed from Texas

BULLETIN: On June 30, Irma Muniz reports that Ramsey has been transferred to the federal prison at El Reno, Oklahoma.

“It’s been two days now,” she says. “He’s doing okay, thank you. We’re going to move forward and continue the struggle that we have always had.”

The Texas Civil Rights Review will continue to post updates and letters from Ramsey Muniz.–gm

    Dear Friends:

With bitterness and sadness I write to inform you that
Ramsey Muniz has been transferred to Oklahoma. An article
about this was printed [June 21] in the Corpus Christi Caller Times,
and I will provide information in a subsequent email message….

    Sincerely,
    Irma Muniz

    Dear Friends:

Ramsey is currently in Oklahoma City, awaiting a transfer to
his final destination. It is shocking that the Bureau of Prisons
used trickery and deceit in order to move him out of Texas.
Needless to say, we are devastated about their sending him away.

Below is a letter received from my husband. His spirits are high,
and for the first time he is able to sleep after many weeks of
being threatened with an impending move.

    Irma and Ramsey Muniz

Innocence and Freedom or Imprisonment Forever

For nearly 13 years of being confined in America’s
hardest prisons, my wife, family, close friends, attorneys,
U.S. Senators, Congressmen, national Hispanic organizations
(LULAC & American GI Forum) struggled and sacrificed, and
finally had me transferred to the Three Rivers Federal
Correctional Institution, which is close to my home in
Corpus Christi, Texas. The purpose of the transfer was for
the “reopening” of my case in order to prove my innocence
and terminate the miscarriage of justice committed against
    my family and me.

In the beginning I was not aware that the Three Rivers
Federal Correctional Institution did not desire my presence
though immediately upon my arrival I was confined in solitary
confinement for no legal or constitutional reason. Within
a period of 3 weeks the administrative staff removed my
privileges to shop at the institutional commissary.

On two occasions I was told to pack in order to be
transferred, then was told to unpack due to letters and
phone calls received from U.S. Senators, Congressmen, and
Hispanic organizations. My wife’s visits were terminated for
30 days, and immediately thereafter terminated for 90 days.
The constant attitude of the staff and administration was
extremely racial, biased, discriminatory and prejudicial.
Never in my entire life had I experienced such inhumane actions.

Upon my arrival at Three Rivers FCI, my medical status
was classified as level 1. In order to justify my transfer,
(and without a medical examination), the Medial Director
and administration staff changed my level 1 medical status to a
level 2, since Three Rivers FIC is a medical level 1 institution.
Throughout my entire time in Three Rivers I was never fully
examined by a medical doctor. I never had a reason to visit
the institutional medical clinic or took any kind of medication.
I am not ill and thank God for keeping me in excellent physical
    health.

At Three Rivers FCI I met with sever people who
will be instrumental in the reopening of my case. It was my
first opportunity in 14 years and now they have transferred me
out of Texas, out of the reach of legal assistance, and out
of reach of my dear family whose love and support kept me alive,
providing the desire, will, and spiritual faith to fight against
this oppression and incarceration, knowing that I’m innocent.

How will I ever be repaid for this mode of cruel darkness,
solitary confinement, sadness, loneliness, hunger, grief, pain,
sorrow, and the loss of love? I am 64 years old and I refuse to
submit to the oppressive and racial actions taken against me by
the administration at Three Rivers FCI and the Federal Bureau
    of Prisons.

All of my life I have struggled and fought for the rights
of all humanity and we are now in the 21st century with our own
proud Hispanic candidate. How is it that we permit injustices
to be committed against me, who 35 years ago was a candidate
for Governor of the state of Texas?

My chains and shackles are false and their clang against
my body can be heard from Oklahoma to the entire state of Texas.
Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the
price of false chains, shackles, and the imprisonment of my
innocence? I know not what others will do, but as for me, I
will forever continue the struggle for my freedom until I die.

I ask that everyone open their hearts and join me in this
struggle for my freedom, and the fundamental, legal, constitutional
right to be transferred back to Texas. Please stay in touch with
Irma, my wife, for the path toward freedom, justice, and equality
    has just begun.

Pray for me. Prayers are power!

  • Ramsey Muniz Moved to Oklahoma, 15 Hours from Wife

    June 30, 2007

    Dear Friends:

I have spoken with my husband, Ramsey, and he has
arrived at El Reno, Oklahoma, which is a high security
medium Federal Correctional Institution (FCI). Due to
certain factors and circumstances that we will discuss
at a later time, his transfer to Oklahoma has created
tremendous hardships for the family, attorneys, and
individuals who are involved in the reopening of his
    immediate case.

This change will have a tremendous impact on me personally,
because I was visiting Ramsey weekly. Three Rivers is
90 miles away from Corpus Christi, and the drive to
Three Rivers is 1½ hours. Now I must travel 800 miles
and drive 15 hours to reach El Reno, Oklahoma.

Those who are interested can write to Ramsey at the
    following address:

    Ramiro R. Muniz – 40288-115
    FCI El Reno
    Federal Correctional Institution
    P.O. Box 1500
    El Reno, OK 73036

Within a reasonable period of time the national legal
committee to have Ramsey transferred back to Three Rivers
(or another lower security Texas institution) will exchange
legal strategies, contacts, and if necessary take this matter
to federal court. Please be so kind as to share this information
with your congressman and senator, and let them know that you will
continue to send them information regarding this case.

I have made contact with organizations. Their representatives
are extremely upset and are ready to do what is necessary. We
were honored to be in contact with Jaime Martinez, who
expressed his concern for Ramsey. Mr. Martinez is the Founder,
Chairman, and Organizer of the Cesar E. Chavez March in
San Antonio, Texas. He is President of the Labor Council for Latin
American Advancement – San Antonio Chapter, and serves as
National LULAC Labor Advisor and Treasurer.

I am making plans to visit my husband as soon as possible.
Know that I will continue to communicate information and keep
everyone informed about appropriate steps taken.

Thank you for all the support that you have provided.

    Sincerely,
    Irma Muniz
